I currently live in Brooklyn with my wife, three children, and a Siamese cat in a creaky old house. In 2018 I was the Mary Higgins Clark Chair in Creative Writing at Fordham College. I’ve given talks and lectures at a lot of festivals and at Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Oxford, and I’ve served on the board of directors of the National Book Critics Circle, Electric Literature, and the Harvard Advocate. I’ve written for Vanity Fair, the Believer, the Village Voice, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Salon, Slate, Wired, Entertainment Weekly, the Week, Buzzfeed, NPR, Lingua Franca and many other places. It’s a sequel to The Silver Arrow, which was a New York Times bestseller and was on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, People magazine, Apple and Amazon best-of-the-year lists. My newest book, The Golden Swift, a novel for children, was published in May 2022. I’m probably best-known for the #1 New York Times bestselling Magicians trilogy- The Magicians, The Magician King, and The Magician’s Land-which has been published in thirty countries and adapted as a TV show that ran for five seasons on Syfy.
